Guidelines making a Character
Only moderators will comment on CIS in the pending section, if you want to add something, do so in the CIS, but make sure we can see what you have added. Use a different color to let us know! After approved all members can comment.
Before submitting a new character, please check the tribalpositions for what we still "need". If we have enough of one position (magic or nonmagic) then we will mention it in that list!! We will not approve your character if you take a position that is 'closed'!
Also consider the ratio of 40/60 in creating elves with magic. If you have 5 characters then only 2 can have magic. This is because not all elves have magic and we wish for others to have the option to create an elf with magic.
Last but not least. The position of High One and FirstBorns are given already. Same goes for twins or triplets, etc. Those are rare and should stay rare. No more will be allowed!
1.Players can't start roleplaying in the story until their character is approved by the Admins. Please submit your character profile in the Pending Character Board.
2. You can play as many characters as you'd like or can. But if it is getting too much you can do what is described in #9.
Also it isn't possible to play two characters who are Lovemates or Lifemates. This is too keep relations unexpected, for yourself and the ones who read your RP.
Playing siblings is allowed, as are familymembers such as Father, Mother, Cub, Cousins, Uncle and Nephew, etc. You can't create twins, triplets etc anymore, those options are closed!
3. Name
It can be difficult to come up with a name or perhaps you have already a name in mind, but we like you to consider if the name fits the tribe you want it to belong to.
For example: Wolfriders have names that refect their looks, character or even choice of weapon. (Exeption is Tyleet)
Sunfolk and most other tribes have soundnames, but they also have a meaning. Rayek means child of the Rocks, Ek = Rocks and can be found in other tribes as well (Ekuar)
The GoBacks are known to short names, which is understandable, in battle you don't want to call out long names.
To avoid names getting overused, we will add a list of names or part of a name that can't be used anymore.
Black
Fox
Frost
Moon
Sand
Shadow
Stone
Also names that look too much like "earth-names" or derived from Latin or "Earth-languages" will not bw accepted anymore. Reason is that we want to stay close to the ElfQuestverse.
More will be added in a new thread about names.
4. Appearance of your character.
In essence you can create your character to look how you want it to be, but please stay within the limits of EQ.
Wolfriders have pale skin, natural colored hair (blond to brown to black), Sunfolk have brown skin and dark colored hair, etc.
Edit March 2018: Wendy Pini had stated that the skincolor also depends on where the elf is born and not only inherits the color of one of the parents.
For example; Mender is fullblood Wolfrider, yet his skin is darker then most Wolfriders, this is because he is born in the dessert. But a forestborn Wolfrider usually has a pale skin. The skin can get a suntan and when from a young age keep that color.
The height of the tribes are (adults):
Wolfriders: 4'- 4'9" (122 - 144cm)
Sunfolk/ GoBacks: 4' - 5'2" (122 - 157cm)
Gliders/ WaveDancers: 5'7" - 6'2" (170 - 188cm)
Plainrunners/Loners: 4' - 6'2" (122 - 188cm)
High Ones: 6'2" - 6'7" (188 - 200cm)
Trolls: 4'4" - 5'2" (132 - 157cm)
Preservers: 1' (30cm, no Preserver is taller then the other)
Humans: 4'6" - 6'2" (137 - 188cm)
Important! An Elf or Troll is never shorter then these measures, unless there is a good reason for it!)
5. When creating more then two characters we hold a ratio of 40/60 to 0/100, this means you can ofcourse create all nonmagic elves, but if you wish to have magic elves a max of 40% of all your characters can have magic!
6. The age.
Again, nothing is holding you back, but again keep in mind that we are an ElfQuest Holt.
This means that certain tribes/ elves can be older then others. Pureblooded are immortal, but GoBacks don't get very old...
Wolfriders can get as old as 1,500, maybe 2,500 years old, due to their wolfblood.
One guideline we have is that your character must be 4 years and older to be seen as an independent character. Before that age a child will be played in combination with one of it's parents or grandparents.
((Example: Child walked up to his father. "Sire, you promised to teach me to ride the wolf...."
Father answers. "Yes son, I did, didn't I?" And he took his son's hand to guide him to the wolves. He would enjoy teaching his son.))
7. No Godmodding, Meta Gaming, Bogarting or Single Controlling the RP!
Here are the definitions for God modding and Meta Gaming:
God Modding: Making one's character god like. They have no limits or boundaries. Examples: Can't be harmed or killed by other players' characters. Killing or injuring other players' characters without permission. Using other players' characters without permission.
Meta Gaming: Having your character know about future events that have not occurred yet. As in using out of game information. (No Spoilers beyond when Rayek took the Palace to the future, see Kings of Broken Wheel Serie)
Only two magic abilities are allowed per character!, besides sending, animal-bonding and a tribalmagic, see list which tribes have a tribal magic!
Please check the Tribal Positions here to see which magic abilities we allow! Some magic is rare, only 2 or 3 characters can have those powers! Some magic are closed!
8.If you wish for your character to recognize, please submit a comment saying so in the Recognitions List thread. Characters will be randomly choosen to recognize at points decided on by the staff, or allowed if two players want their characters to recognize, please contact the admin or the moderators in a pm to ask them!!
f you do NOT wish your character to recognize anymore, again make a comment in the same thread and it will be noted.
9. If you want your character to bond with an animal, this animal must be indigenous to the World of Two Moons at our holttime! So no dinosaurs, because we don't know if they ever excisted. Non canon ones described in the novels or non canon issues will get denied.
Bondanimals other then below, are not accepted anymore!!
Wolves, Bears, Cats (different types), Branchhorn, NoHumps, Giant Hawks (closed!!), Terrorbirds (closed!!), Dolphins, Snakes, Crocodile (closed!!), Hyena (closed!!) and Jackals or Jackwolf.
10. If you chose that your character is a child of a canoncharacter of ElfQuest, make sure this is believable!
For instance Cutter only fathered Ember and Suntop, so he will not have other cubs. Also, if we see that one canoncharacter is used too much as a mother or father, then we will not approve the character.
Canoncharacters that will not be accepted anymore as parents:
- all canon-couples!
- Bearclaw
- Skywise
- Two-Edge
- Winnowill
- more may follow, updates will be announced in the Admin Board!
When approved:
11. Once your character is approved you can not add magic abilities anymore! Or it must be clearly stated that your character has dorment powers, also describe which ones.
Exeption is for children under the age of 16. It can be still uncertain if they have magical abilities or which ones. If you think of having your childcharacter to have a rare magic, you should add it as a possibility and post in Tribal Positions that your character might develope that magicpower!
Same goes for a soulname or a complete! change of appereance without reason.
12. Family ties, Love-/Lifemates and or cubs can be added at all times, the same goes for adding previous events to your character's history. Also make sure to post these under the Holt's Timeline.
13.If you wish for your character to recognize, please submit a comment saying so in the Recognitions List thread.
Characters will be randomly choosen to recognize at points decided on by the staff, or allowed if two players want their characters to recognize, please contact the admin or the moderators in a pm to ask them!!
If you do NOT wish your character to recognize anymore, again make a comment in the same thread and it will be noted.
14. Try to keep your character(s) updated with new events, as well as posting new events in the Holt's Current Timeline! and changing of appereances.
15. When you wish to stop playing your character(s) you have 3 options.
1. You put them up for adoption (again), after making sure that the bio is up-to-date! Meaning that special events are added to the Personal History and when your character had a lovemate, lifemate or cubs in the meantime that must be edited too!
2. Your character leaves, you will need to tell the admin, because we will need to adapt the storyline. But this way you can play your character(s) in other Holts affiliated with ours. (No one yet!!)
3. Your character dies. Again, tell the admin your plans, events might have to be changed.

Guidelines for Playing a Character
(Most guidelines are common courtesy, which we have put into writing!)
1.Players can't start roleplaying in the story until their character is approved by the Admins. Please submit your character profile in the Pending Character Board.
2. When starting to play a (new) character, you must add a new profile with your charactername to your account. The reason is that you post under the Charactername and not your account.
In the Characterprofile you can add relevant information your fellow RPers must know, looks, weapon, age etc.
See the "How to..." here.
3. You can play as many characters as you'd like or can. But if it is getting too much you can do what is described in #9.
Also it isn't possible to play two characters who are Lovemates or Lifemates. This is too keep relations unexpected, for yourself and the ones who read your RP.

Please check the Tribal Positions here to see which magic abilities we allow! Some magic is rare, only 2 or 3 characters can have those powers! Some magic are closed!
Bogarting: Stealing the scene every time they enter the room like the Bogart actor while he's in chara. Actually Bogarting is meant as hogging something from others instead of sharing the thing in meantion, cigarette, scene, as it is slang, it has altered in point of subject but means some subject matteris being hogged and not shared.
Single Controlling the RP: Please do not "speak" for another Character that isn't yours. 'Example. He looked at his friend. The look of terror was clearly written on his friend's face and he decided to comfort his friend.'
(You don't know how the other will reply, if the other needs to be horrified, because that is a plot in the rp, please first discuss it with the other player!)
In RP sense, it would mean controlling another players characters without permission, ofcourse within reason is allowed, like small movements. Brushing hair behind an ear or stopping a hand from swinging at you, which aren't seen as Bogarting or GMing.
All above will result in a warning and if repeatingly doing so a ban of 7 days. (See Warning at the end of The Guidelines of this Holt!)
5. When you wish to stop playing your character(s) you have 3 options.
1. You put them up for adoption (again), after making sure that the bio is up-to-date! Meaning that special events are added to the Personal History and when your character had a lovemate, lifemate or cubs in the meantime that must be edited too!

3. Your character dies. Again, tell the admin your plans, events might have to be changed.
6. Last but not least!
No Spoilers in the RP of Final Quest or any other story that happens after the Palace re-appeared.
Our Characters don't know this (See our Timeline!) and not all of our members have had a change to read Final Quest!
Thank you!
Only moderators will comment on CIS in the pending section, if you want to add something, do so in the CIS, but make sure we can see what you have added. Use a different color to let us know! After approved all members can comment.
